What is the difference between Lash Extensions and a Lash Lift?
Whether you're looking for dramatic length and volume or a subtle lift, we have the perfect solution.
-
Lash Lift: For a natural, lifted look, try a lash lift. In just 45 minutes to an hour, a gentle solution lifts and curls your natural lashes from the base, giving them a beautiful, wide-eyed effect. Perfect for those who prefer minimal maintenance, a lash lift lasts 6-8 weeks and pairs beautifully with your favorite mascara.
-
Lash Extensions: Achieve stunning length and fullness with custom lash extensions. During this 1-3 hour service, individual synthetic lashes are meticulously applied to your natural lashes. Ideal for those seeking a bold, eye-catching look, lash extensions require regular fills every 2-3 weeks as well as aftercare at home to maintain their fabulous appearance.
Classic, Hybrid, or Volume Extensions?
-
Classic lash extensions involve applying one extension to each natural lash, creating a natural, mascara-like effect with added length and slight volume. This option is ideal for those with a good amount of natural lashes who are looking for a subtle enhancement.
-
Hybrid lash extensions combine classic and volume techniques, mixing single extensions with fans of multiple lashes for a fuller, more textured look. This style offers a balance between natural and dramatic appearances, making it perfect for those seeking more volume and dimension without being a dramatic look.
-
Volume lash extensions use fans of multiple ultra-fine extensions applied to each natural lash, creating a very full, fluffy, and dramatic effect. This method significantly enhances volume and density, making it ideal for those with sparse natural lashes or anyone desiring a bold, glamorous look.
Length and shape are customizable for all lash styles. Maintenance for all styles involves regular fills every 2-3 weeks to keep the desired look.
Lash Extension Aftercare:
Proper aftercare is crucial for maintaining the longevity and appearance of your lash extensions. For the first 24-48 hours, avoid getting your lashes wet to allow the adhesive to fully bond. Refrain from using oil-based makeup removers or skincare products around the eyes, as oils can weaken the adhesive. Be gentle with your lashes—avoid rubbing, pulling, or excessively touching them. Use a clean spoolie brush to comb through your lashes as needed and keep them looking neat. Avoid using mascara on lashes. Regular fills every 2-3 weeks are essential to replace any lashes that have shed and maintain the fullness of your extensions.
To properly cleanse your extensions, begin by using a soft eye makeup brush and a lash cleanser specifically formulated for extensions. Apply a small amount of the cleanser to the brush or directly onto the lashes and gently brush the cleanser through the extensions, starting at the base and moving towards the tips. Be careful not to scrub too hard to prevent the extensions from coming loose. Rinse the lashes thoroughly with lukewarm water, ensuring all the cleanser is washed away. Pat the lashes dry with a soft, lint-free towel, let them air dry, or use a fan, avoiding any rubbing. Once dry, use a clean mascara wand or spoolie brush to gently comb through the lashes, keeping them neat and fluffy.
Lash Lift Aftercare:
Proper aftercare is essential to maintain the longevity and appearance of your lash lift.
• Avoid swimming for 24–48 hours: While your lashes can get wet during normal activities like washing your face or showering, it’s best to avoid swimming pools, oceans, hot tubs, or spas during the first 24–48 hours. Submerging your lashes can cause them to become weighed down, and chemicals like chlorine, as well as minerals in saltwater or spa water, can weaken the lift and affect any lash tint, reducing how long your results last.
• Avoid steam, saunas, and excessive heat for 24–48 hours: Heat and steam open the hair cuticle and can interfere with the lash lift setting process. Exposure to these can cause your lashes to lose their shape prematurely or reduce the duration of the lift.
• Avoid applying makeup or mascara to the lashes for 24–48 hours: Applying makeup, especially waterproof mascara, can interfere with the lift and make cleansing difficult, potentially causing irritation or weakening the curl.
• Avoid oil based products or cleansers around the eyes: Oils break down the chemical bonds created during the lift and can cause the curl to relax faster. Use gentle, oil-free cleansers and makeup removers around your eyes to protect your results.
• Avoid rubbing, sleeping on, or pulling lashes: Rubbing or applying pressure, whether with your hands or by sleeping face down, can distort the shape of your lifted lashes, particularly in the first 24–48 hours while the lift is still setting.
• Avoid using eyelash curlers, heated lash tools, or applying false lashes: Since your lashes are chemically lifted, using mechanical curlers or heated tools can cause damage, breakage, or unnatural bends. Let the lift maintain your lash shape naturally.
• Use oil-free cleansers and makeup remover: Opt for gentle, non-oily cleansers like the around your eyes to protect the lash lift and prevent the curl from relaxing prematurely.
• Apply lash serums/lash conditioners daily: Use nourishing lash serums or conditioners to keep your lashes healthy and strong. These can be applied safely immediately after your lash lift—no need to wait 24–48 hours.
Lash Lift Safety:
Lash lifts are generally very safe when performed by a trained and certified professional using high-quality products. However, as with any cosmetic treatment, there is a small risk of irritation or allergic reaction. In general, clients with no previous history of a silicone or adhesive sensitivity have minimal risk associated with receiving a lash lift and tint. To further reduce risk, we conduct a thorough consultation and offer patch tests upon request. Please advise your esthetician if you have had adverse reactions to this service in the past. Your safety and comfort are always our top priority!
